Alondra Park in Redondo Beach

We went to feed the birds in Alondra Park for the first and last time- it was really gross and scary. But we got some great family pics afterward! Elijah loved it! He was singing “Mama BamBA! wooo wooo woooooo!!!”

Cheerios & the Pincers

Elijah has gotten very good at picking up single cheerios! He currently has 4 teeth up top and 2 on bottom. Sometimes he grabs the camera and makes the lens blurry. These are photos from his 9th month. Enjoy!

sleep training

We started sleep training Elijah on Saturday night. Decided finally it was becoming too great a risk that he might wake up in the night and crawl off the edge or something. Besides it was just time. This isn’t the typical sleep training. Its a mix of attachment method and sleep training. Trying to help him sleep on his own while I’m present so he doesn’t feel abandoned. Just going by instinct- hope I’m not confusing the kid.

Saturday he cried 2 hours and fell asleep sitting indian-style – sheer exhaustion.

Sunday we laid him down and he went right to sleep- church all day can do that to you.

Monday he cried 1 hour 50 minutes and I finally nursed him to sleep when he gestured he was hungry.

Tuesday cried for 40 minutes before falling asleep mid-cry… progress

Elijah Drinks from a Straw Sippy Cup!!

Just after he learned how to blow a whistle (thanks to tootin tub toys) he learned how to drink from the straw. I tried whistling and then swapping out the cup, then tried putting the straw next to my “natural straw”…but it still didn’t click. Then I put my mouth on the straw and showed by example and that’s when he got it after a few tries. I’m so proud of him!
